Every blogger and site owner has a dream to get Google AdSense approval for their blogs or sites. In fact, Google AdSense is undoubtedly the best to monetize your blogs. A few years back I tried to get Google AdSense approval for my blog and I was rejected straightway.
After turned down by Google, I started to figure out what exactly happened. I was so depressed and thinking that my blogging career was all over. Can you believe how Google AdSense impacted a newbie blogger’s life? However, Google AdSense substitutes and affiliate marketing are also there to monetize your blog and still I go with Google AdSense.
Although, I was very much new in the blogging world and keep digging the way to get approval from Google AdSense. I started to learn by reading other successful bloggers post and how they manage to get approval. From writing an SEO friendly blog post to internet marketing, and all other technicals tricks that helped me to enhance my skills. In fact, blogging is an art and along with it, if you have some basic technicals skills, then it will be very easier for you to get started.
When my first attempt to get approval from Google AdSense rejected, I was sad losing hope. After learning from my mistakes I found that one failure actually enhances my blogging skills. In the beginning, my blog’s Global Alexa rank was way over 20 millions and Alexa Country rank was also over 1 million. I applied every skill that I have learned and finally, overall ranking started to improve. At present Alexa Global rank is below 1 million and Country rank drop from 1 million to below 50K.
In the beginning, I used to code myself and design my own blog in static HTML pages and then moved to WordPress platform. After implementing WordPress Themes and Plugins really helped me to boost on-page and off-page SEO. I used to use free hosting service provider and now hosting with Hostgator that powered my blog.
As a newbie, I make many mistakes and so, I believe all new bloggers also do the same mistakes too. All you need to know is to overcome your failure and keep learning new things.
Step by Step Guide to get Google AdSense approval for WordPress blogs
Before you apply, read carefully Google AdSense terms and conditions and approval requirements that may help you to easier your task. If you also want to monetize your blog and to get Google AdSense approval, then follow the below steps that I have implemented on my blog.
Step 1: Design and Develop Your Blog
Domain Name & Hosting Solutions
Before you apply for Google AdSense approval, you need to register for a domain and hosting solutions. You can do so with Hostgator, Bluehost, Dreamhost, or any other reliable hosting service provider. I suggest you register with Hostgator shared hosting ‘Baby Plan’ that enables you to manage multiple domains. As a newbie, you can use shared hosting plans and when your blog grow big, you can always switch over to a dedicated hosting plan.
Keep in mind, that your blog must be 6 months old or so before applying and especially if you are from India and China. Google AdSense approval has these criteria in certain locations. Furthermore, some people claim that their blog has been approved by Google AdSense within a months or so. However, I suggest you apply at least after 6 months of your blog domain registration date.
Once you register with Hosting solutions, it is time to install WordPress. WordPress is an awesome blogging platform that boosts your blogging career from day one itself. Before using WordPress I was not aware of its functionality and features that are really great. In fact, WordPress is absolutely free and open source platform and so what are you waiting for.
To install WordPress, you can download the installation files from wordpress.org. Once downloading complete, you can upload the files to your root server using any FTP applications. After that, you can configure username, password, and database details. You can also install WordPress directly on your hosting plans from the Softaculous Auto installer in just one click.
Install Themes and Plugins
After you complete installing WordPress properly, all you need is to install WordPress Themes and Plugins. You can install any themes that support your current WordPress version. However, I suggest you choose themes that looks professional and clean layout.
You can power up your blog by installing WordPress Plugins like Yoast SEO, Broken Link Checker, and SumoMe. Furthermore, you can also install WP SEO Structured Data Schema, WP-SpamShield, Jetpack and other plugins as per your requirements.
Moved from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’
It is not mandatory to migrate your site from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ for Google AdSense approval. However, Google preferred https:// sites over ‘http://’ sites having secured SSL certificate. As a newbie blogger, you can install Cloudflare Flexible SSL certificate and it is also free to use. You can anytime switch to premium SSL certificate as your blog grow.
By installing SSL and migrating from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ enable you to secure your site visitors confidential data and information. Google has already announced that it preferred sites that care its user and so your site rank also improved. You can easily do so by setup Cloudflare Free SSL Certificate and secure your WordPress blog.
Setup Google Analytics and Google Search Consoles
Once you complete SSL certificate installation, open an account with Google Analytics and Google Search Consoles. Both this tools from Google is free to use and let you analyze your visitors in a much better way.
Google Search Console lets you monitor, analyze, and optimize your site in search results. It lets Google access your content whenever you submit new content for crawling. You can monitor and fix malware or spam related issues to keep your site clean.
Google Search Console enables you to know what queries make your site appear in search results and which one brings more traffic. You can easily analyze backlinks and Active Mobile Pages (AMP) performance for mobile visitors.
All you need to do is to link your blog or site to Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Also, make sure your blog is not blocked by Google. To check that, you can use Google Webmasters tools that help you to analyze your blog and also submit the sitemap to it.
Step 2: Create Category
After you design and develop your blog, add category or sub-category so that you can divide your blog content. By doing so, you can help your visitors to search and navigate your blogs properly. Moreover, it also helps Google bots to crawl your site properly.
Step 3: Create Pages
Write sufficient content on this pages and always keep in mind that your content is for your readers and not for search engines. Google automatically follow your blog once it perceives that your blog is valuable to visitors.
Step 4: High-Quality Unique Content Creation
Creating high-quality and unique content for your blog is your topmost priority and so do plagiarism test for any copied items. We all know that content is king and you must focus on it to create quality content. So, write content that pleases and add value to your readers. Your post content at least has more than 500 words or more and accompanied by related images. Try to make it 100 percent unique and never ever copy content from others. Google AdSense will never approve your blog if your content is copied.
Before you apply for AdSense, make sure you have sufficient content. Try to write at least 5 posts on each category with more than 500 words. Furthermore, if you can write 5 to 10 post with more than 2000 words, then it will be an added advantage for you. Never keep pages or post blank or insufficient content as Google bots provide a negative message to Google.
Google AdSense never officially declare that you must have a number of posts or so rather it says your post and pages must have sufficient content. If you have enough unique content on your blog, then chances of getting Google AdSense approval will increase as well.
Avoid adult contents, copyright images and content, drugs related contents, hacking, violent and weapons-related contents. You must not use illegal and orthodox contents on your blog otherwise, your blog will be rejected straightway and Google may also block it too.
Step 5: Optimize Content
Use Yoast SEO or any other SEO tools that help you to optimize your blog post content. Yoast SEO is one of my favorite tool for on-page search engine optimization. It checks for keyword density, grammatical error, meta description and also keep an eye on readability parameters.
It lets you check on Flesch Reading Ease test, passive voice, and transition words. Moreover, it also helps you to quickly fix an issue related to sentences and paragraphs and spelling mistakes. You also need to optimize images by adding Alt attribute, image name, image size, and descriptions. However, there are many image optimization WordPress plugins available to make your task much easier.
Step 6: Increase Visitors Counts
Although, visitors are not a factor for Google AdSense approval, however, it is better to have some traffics. Google approved your site based on your blog quality and not traffic. Moreover, to earn decent money from Google AdSense, all you need is huge targeted traffic. The more traffic you will have, the more revenue you will generate. So, after doing and following 5 steps mentioned above, your most important task is to increase your visitors count. You can check visitors counts by using Google Analytics and WordPress plugins like Jetpack.
To do that, you can use social media tools, a guest post to other related blogs, comments, or any other tools that may drive traffic to your blog. Apart, from that, you need to apply on-page and off-page SEO techniques, sending a newsletter on regular basis to your blog subscriber. You can use Sumo email subscription plugins to get more subscriber and building your email list.
Remain active on social networks and posting your blog post will drive huge traffic. So, try to use Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social networks to boost traffic.
Step 7: Apply For Google AdSense Approval
Finally, if you follow all the above 6 steps, then your blog will more likely to get Google AdSense approval. Just go to Google AdSense Sign Up page and follow the steps suggested by Google. You need to enter details related to you and your blog, so every information must be correct in the online approval form. Keep yourself calm and enter all details carefully.
If you enjoyed and get valuable insights on Google AdSense, then do share it on your social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and other networks. If you have any query related to Google AdSense approval, then do let me know in the comments section.
